The Poetry Slam inside Canberra in the Phoenix Pub

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT!
BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! wants your words on stage inside the Phoenix Pub for two minutes with no props no music for prizes, 1st prizes!

Because BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! is the Poetry Slam that gives anyone a microphone on stage in front of an audience, judges, MCs, feature acts, a bar, bar staff, toilets and doorways! All for you!

And we want you there to audience, judge, perform, read, drink, toilet, go to sleep, wake up, yelp, go back to sleep and/or win first prizes!

And we have a feature act and a house band.

Our feature act is the long lost father, mother, daughter, uncle, grandmother and grandson of BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT!, he is David Stavanger.

David Stavanger’s poetry & flash fiction has been published in various Australian and international magazines, newspapers & anthologies. Known for his distinct live performance he has featured at various writers festivals & poetry venues around the world. His chapbook And the Ringmaster Said… was released through QLD's Small Change Press in 2008. In 2012 he was invited to be QLD’s Writer in Residence as part of the National Year of Reading. In 2013 he received CAL funding to visit Edinburgh and be mentored in their Reader-in-Residence program. As part of this UK tour he also presented at StAnza, Scotland’s National Poetry Festival. In the same year he also won the Thomas Shapcott Poetry Prize and took up residency as Australia’s inaugural “Reader-in-Residence”, a 12 month live weekly writing & poetry installation at Brisbane Square Library. His new poetry collection The Special will be released by UQP in August 2014.’

Our house band is the Viola Cloning Project!

‘The Viola Cloning Project is a one-man, one-viola, seventy-five-effect-pedal band. Using loop recorders and harmoniser pedals in particular, a single instrument becomes a full string and percussion orchestra. It is the brainchild of Richard Grantham, a classically-trained composer and band-hardened multi-instrumentalist based in Brisbane, Australia.’

And filling the Hadley Memorial Slots is the Flying V.

So join BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT!, 7:30pm to sign-up, 8pm to poetry slam, all night for drinking, and remember no props, no music, your original words!
