Omar Holmon
Socially random with +33 charm points Omar "Ion" Holmon lives life like Doug Funnie and believes he'd be the only Jedi whose lightsaber would match his chuck taylors. When not imagining himself in anime fight scenes or working to make the world more abnormal he spends his time in slam poetry competitions and talking about his love for otters/pandas. He has represented New Jersey (Loserslam) and New York (Nuyorican & Urbana) at the National Poetry Slam. He has also been on Ted X, Button Poetry, Verses and Flow and even a commercial for Laphroaig whiskey.

At the bar! In the Toilets! In the Phoenix Pub!
Bring words for the Poetry Slam!

This month we feature Ryan Schipper
& the Blue Angel and Dr Wiedemann.

Ryan Schipper
Ryan Schipper is the rotten lettuce at the back of Canberra's poetry refrigerator. While you survey half-jars of marmalade and leaking takeaway containers, Skip guards the final beer with an ascetic pestilence. Like all fridgethings, he is repulsive, but ultimately, fascinating.

The Blue Angel and Dr Wiedemann
Arc back in time as the Blue Angel and Dr Wiedemann bring you the musty era of Weimar on a battered silver tray. Lightly philosophical and yet comical the Blue Angel and Dr Wiedemann are happy under the spot light singing and playing their original songs as well as sharing stories from another world. The Blue Angel and Dr Wiedemann are somewhat ethereal characters influenced by their own bygone ghostly past.

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! in June

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! gives you 2 minutes on stage with your original material, no props and no music for prizes!

Because BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! is the Poetry Slam!

And BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! wants your words in the audience, at the bar, on the street with a cigarette, in the toilet with rolls or those little bits of paper and most importantly or least importantly we want your words on stage!

So we provide Audience, MCs, Judges, The Master of Conflict, Lights, Poets, Arms, Sounds, Legs, Prizes, Seats, Yelling, Bar, Stage, EP Launch, Poetry, The Score Adder, Benches, Murmuring, Meh-ing, Toilets, Floor, Feature Acts and Heckling and Cheering, and Scoring from 10 to Negative Infinity.

All for the glory of poetry, or you, or the first prizes, or going to the bar.

And this month’s feature acts are!

Charles J Quinn
“A thirty year old, chronically ill, genderqueer Charles J Quinn, decided to perform at every BAD!SLAM! for a year. They did and they were good, then awful, then okayish, then awful, and so continued until a few years later they had become the uniquely good and awful poet they are today. Charles J Quinn also enjoys daydreaming about marrying Data from Star Trek TNG and never updating their blog.”

And BABYFREEZE launching their EP Forever Together!

For Forever Together BABYFREEZE have roped in esteemed musicians to, “slather the lean arrangements in gold” and these musicians will be joining them to launch their new music.

This is what Handsome Luke has to say of BABYFREEZE.

“We’re…both hams, but in Babyfreeze it manifests in different ways. I stay hunched over my drum machine, dancing and singing to myself, lost in reverie. Nick stares down the audience, performing acrobatics, jumping and lunging across the stage. Meanwhile, I’ve also developed this habit of singing along to all of Nick’s parts – not into a microphone or anything, just for my own benefit. I’m not sure what an audience makes of it, but for me it’s like being in the band and performing karaoke at the same time.”

So join BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! at the Phoenix Pub, and remember! No props! No music! your original material! Two minutes! Poetry Slam!

Poets sign-up at 7:30pm, slamming at 8pm, it’s all over by 11:30pm.

Representing You Are Here as part of I Hate You for Sentimental Reasons is:

Nicola Lambert!
Bare-knuckle boxing's illegal. Corporal punishment's out of fashion. Project Mayhem came to nothing. What recourse is left to a city in need of improvement but to invite its brightest minds to verbally excoriate its flaws? Throughout You Are Here experts are delivering short, bloody, insight-laden calls to arms.

In this episode first Nicola Lambert, artist and arts facilitator, questions the cultural inclusiveness of the ACT's arts programs!

Don't miss this pointed brutalisation of your beloved capital's shortcomings!

From Feminartsy and Noted we have:

Beige Brown is Australia’s foremost feminist performance poet. Her permutative sound poetry ingests uncertainty into the phallogentric project of mainstream literary culture, exploding the big edifice to spurt many smaller openings. A past honoured guest at Crack & Griffringe, she is highly regarded by discerning members of Australia’s literary cognoscenti.
And there will be an additional surprise guest!

WE WILL TELL YOU NOTHING OF THEM.

So remember, your original material, no props, no music, 2 minutes, judges, judging, yelling, prizes, glory, all in a pub! In the Phoenix Pub, East Row, Civic, the poetry slam.

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! WANTS YOUR WORDS.

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! is the poetry slam that gives you two minutes to perform your words for prizes.

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! is the poetry slam in the Phoenix Pub.

And BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! gives you a stage, microphone, MCs, The Master of Conflict, The Score Adder, The Sound Guy and feature acts all in proximity to a bar and toilets so you can perform, judge, yell, mutter or ignore what is going on while you miss your cat.

And that means feature act(s) and this month that feature act is Stackhat.

'Stackhat is an absurdly passionate exploration of abstract sound, unadulterated self-expression and raw emotional exhibitionism. Painstakingly crafting his very own unique brand of urban-surrealism, Stackhat composes vast auditory odysseys peppered with schizophrenic samples and avant-garde poetics. Morbidly beautiful, Stackhat is an exercise in dark, enigmatic, sonic contradiction. For those seeking an escape from the usual played out cookie-cutter counter-culture clichés, Stackhat’s infallible punk rock ethos and penchant for genre mashing will leave you feeling slightly disturbed, strangely intrigued and pleasantly bewildered.'

So join BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT!, 7:30pm to sign-up, 8pm to poetry slam, all night for drinking, and remember no props, no music, your original words!

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT!

BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! WANTS YOUR WORDS ON STAGE FOR TWO MINUTES WITH NO PROPS OR MUSIC FOR PRIZES.

Because BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! is the poetry slam and it gives you a stage, two microphones, sound, lights, toilets, audience, judges, two and sometimes three MCs, The Score Adder, The Master of Conflict, feature acts and a bar, all for prizes.

Prizes!

This month we bring you two feature acts.

Feature Act One is Buddy Wakefield, straight from North America to you he brings poetry.

This is his MORE ACCURATE BIO:

In the Fall of 1984 Anchor Bay Entertainment released a movie called Children of the Corn while Buddy lived in front of the corn fields near Niagara Falls, NY. This traumatic event (coupled with extensive exposure to Kenny Rogers and Lionel Richie) may or may not have led to Buddy becoming a sensitive poet puss who plays marbles in the trees, listens by talking, and keeps fingers on pulse. HI MOM!

LIONEL RICHIE!

Feature Act Two is Sparkles, BAD!SLAM!NO!BISCUIT! knows not from where she hails but she brings SPARKLES.
Sparkles
Photograph by Adam Thomas
This is her MORE ACCURATE BIO:

Sparkles has shocked, delighted and disgusted people since her first appearance as a feature act at Bad!Slam! No!Biscuit! in 2011. Since then she has featured in Comic/Strip, the National Multicultural Fringe Festival, the National Folk Festival and a number of Sass and Tease events.

DISGUSTED!
